- On Sunday, the APC Grassroots Organisation rejected Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike's Rainbow Coalition ahead of the 2027 elections, warning it creates parallel structures undermining President Bola Tinubu's re-election campaign.
- The APC Grassroots Organisation alleged Wike aims to undermine the APC using 2023 tactics, stating, "Just as he did with the PDP in the past, using lackeys from Kano and Edo states, the same script is being played all over again."
- Emphasizing the APC's control of 31 of 36 states, the group argued existing party structures are sufficient for Tinubu's campaign and warned governors against surrendering machinery to Wike's faction.
- The Progressives Governors Forum, chaired by Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, formally opposed the coalition, while the APC South-east caucus demanded an apology from Wike over his comments on their political capacity.
- Defending his coalition on Monday, Wike maintained securing Tinubu's re-election remains his priority while rejecting destabilization allegations; the APC national leadership has not yet taken a position on the dispute.
