Radio Station Apologises After Accidentally Announcing King’s Death
On Tuesday, Radio Caroline mistakenly announced that King Charles had died, interrupting normal programming to play 'God Save the King' before issuing an on-air apology.
Station Manager Peter Moore stated a 'computer error' at the main studio accidentally activated the 'Death of a Monarch' procedure, which all UK stations hold in readiness.
The broadcast ceased for around 15 minutes while listeners across the Midlands and South England expressed shock at the sudden false announcement.
King Charles and Queen Camilla arrived in Belfast on Tuesday for a three-day visit, greeted by more than two hundred performers at Thompson Dock.
Their three-day visit to Northern Ireland faces heightened security due to growing dissident republican activities, while the King continues public engagements following his cancer treatment recovery.
