Cheaper Theme Park Tickets and Children's Meals as VAT to Be Cut for some Attractions This Summer
The package is expected to save consumers more than £150 million a year and includes a £100 million bus-fare scheme for children.
On Thursday, Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves announced a cost-of-living package including tariff cuts on over 100 product types and free bus travel for children in England during August.
The Government is cutting import tariffs on more than 100 product types to ease price pressures exacerbated by Donald Trump's war in the Middle East, expected to save consumers more than £150 million annually.
Under the "Great British Summer Savings Scheme," Reeves is committing more than £100 million to fund free bus travel for children aged 5 to 15 on participating local routes throughout August.
Energy price caps are forecast to climb £209 annually from July despite these measures, as officials warn against universal bailouts that could trigger higher borrowing costs and mortgage rates.
Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer said the measures aim to put "money back into people's pockets," with the full product list for tariff cuts expected to be published next week.
