Queen Letizia Wears Figure-Hugging Velvet Gown and Diamonds for Historic Night in Finland
The queen paired the Felipe Varela design with diamond jewelry once worn by Queen Victoria Eugenie.
On Tuesday, Queen Letizia and King Felipe attended a state banquet at the Presidential Palace in Helsinki, hosted by President Alexander Stubb and First Lady Suzanne Innes-Stubb.
Marking the first state visit to Finland by the royal couple, the trip follows the 1989 visit paid by His Majesty King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia, thirty-seven years prior.
Letizia wore a black velvet gown by Felipe Varela, accessorizing with diamond stud earrings and twin diamond bracelets that once belonged to Queen Victoria Eugenie.
Felipe and President Stubb emphasized the trip "represents an opportunity to strengthen bilateral relations between two countries that are partners in the European Union and allies in NATO."
The visit demonstrates Spain's commitment to strategic autonomy and the security and defense of Europe, with President Stubb noting, "We have the privilege of continuing that story.
The Queen recovers a design by Felipe Varela that had already appeared on other occasions and combines it with several historical pieces by the Royal Jeweller.
