Quebec Premier Fréchette, French President Macron discuss opportunities in Paris
Fréchette said Quebec has 28 critical minerals and wants defence and innovation deals as Europe plans 800 billion euros in rearmament.
On Monday, Quebec Premier Christine Fréchette met French President Emmanuel Macron and Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu in Paris to advance economic cooperation and position the province as a strategic partner.
Amid Europe's 800 billion euro rearmament plan, Fréchette seeks to secure defence contracts by leveraging Quebec's access to 28 identified critical and strategic minerals amid rising geopolitical demand.
Pitching Quebec as a "trusted partner," the premier highlighted the province's clean energy advantage and committed to developing the sector in a "sustainable" and "responsible" way.
Investissement Québec renewed its partnership with Business France to share best practices and investment leads, strengthening networking between Quebec and French companies at major international events.
This mission follows a recent Washington visit; as Canada and European nations aim to raise NATO budget contributions to five per cent, Quebec leverages its strategic assets in the shifting defence landscape.
