UK Pledges $205 Million to Send US Weapons to Ukraine
The UK’s £150 million pledge to NATO’s Prioritised Ukraine Requirements List helps fund U.S.-made air-defense systems amid ongoing Russian missile attacks, with $4.5 billion pledged by allies so far.
Thursday, Britain announced it will provide Ukraine with more than £500 million in defence missiles and systems, the Ministry of Defence said.
Moscow launched 24 ballistic missiles, one cruise missile and 219 drones, damaging energy infrastructure and causing heating and power cuts amid freezing winter conditions.
Funding includes a £390 million deal for 1,000 Belfast-made Lightweight Multirole Missiles and additional deliveries via the Air Defence Consortium of 1,200 air-defence missiles and 200,000 rounds of artillery ammunition, the MoD said.
The move is part of Healey's efforts to urgently protect Ukraine's energy infrastructure and residential areas, and strengthen NATO posture, Healey said.
At NATO ministers' meetings in Brussels, allies discussed defence investment and Ukraine, while the deal deepens UK-Ukraine ties by transferring Rapid Ranger production and support to Ukraine.
