Pulikeshi Nagar blast: Personal grudge, YouTube videos, WhatsApp group and an IED
Police said three men from Assam were arrested after 1,500 CCTV feeds and 100 witness interviews linked the blast to a family dispute.
- On Sunday, Bengaluru City Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh announced the arrest of three childhood friends from Assam in connection with Tuesday's improvised explosive device blast in Pulakeshinagar.
- Investigators identified the motive as personal rivalry between security guard Alauddin and his nephew Jahidul Hussain Burbhuiyya, stemming from land disputes and a recently cancelled marriage.
- Bhurhan Ahmad Burbhuiyya allegedly assembled the device, which injured Alauddin and painter Suraj Kumar when it detonated; police solved the case within 72 hours after questioning more than 100 people and reviewing over 1,500 CCTV recordings.
- All three accused, including Sajidul Lashkar, have been remanded to police custody, and Commissioner Singh stated the investigation continues to confirm the precise sequence of events and individual roles.
- Addressing security gaps, police will conduct an audit of CCTV cameras across Bengaluru and consider invoking public-safety provisions to ensure surveillance equipment in commercial establishments remains operational.
