The general government debt stood in July at 99.9% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), 2.4 percentage points less than a year earlier, and reached 1.744 trillion euros, according to data published on Thursday by the Banco de España. According to the estimate available for July, the public debt ratio would thus have fallen below 100% of GDP for the first time since February 2020, just before the outbreak of the pandemic.
