PS confirms CPI. Focus on Montenegro's exclusivity and declaratory obligations
A few hours before the Government's motion of confidence, this morning socialists presented the topics of the requested Parliamentary Committee of Inquiry (CPI) on the Prime Minister's family business.
Álvaro Beleza defends that the PS should abstain from the motion of confidence to force the CPI to Montenegro
Beleza argues that the long-term viability of the Government would make it possible to tie Montenegro to the holding of the commission of inquiry. Carneiro calls for Marcelo's intervention. PNS says that the party “is united”.
“I didn't commit a crime.” Montenegro reiterates that the Government “has conditions”
The Prime Minister considered that there were no “surprises” in recent weeks, but that “[situations] were revealed on his own initiative”, which, in his view, “were not [in his] sphere to reveal”.
PS wants to clarify the situation in Montenegro in 90 days: “You missed an opportunity where your answers were sufficient”
Alexandra Leitão hopes that the commission will allow “a thorough scrutiny of a situation that remains very obscure” and warns that, if the President dissolves the Parliament and calls elections, “the PS will submit the same request again” and will demand explanations from Montenegro again in the next legislature. PS will “avoid” calling the Prime Minister's relatives
