The 13-day war between Israel and Iran has exposed the weaknesses of Iran's air force. The country's aging air fleet has been grounded, as sanctions have prevented the country from purchasing new aircraft and spare parts for the old ones. A deal with Russia to purchase Su-35 multi-role fighters has apparently also fallen through. Now Iran is reportedly looking to Beijing for Chengdu J-10CE fighters.
"We signed a contract to purchase 50 Su-35s from Russia, but only four were purchased due to the Ukraine war." Iran, which entered into a ceasefire following its armed conflict with Israel, is renewing its push to purchase Chinese J-10C fighter jets, according to Hong Kong's Chengdu Daily.
