This weekend, Nijmegen commemorates the bombing of February 1944, in which nearly 800 people were killed and large parts of the old city centre were destroyed.
The nine people arrested on Sunday after disrupting the commemoration of the bombing of Nijmegen have all been released. According to a police spokesperson, the XR Justice Now activists were fined. The spokesperson declined to disclose the identities of the activists.
During the annual commemoration of the bombing of Nijmegen on Sunday, the American ambassador's speech was disrupted by Extinction Rebellion activists. The protest took place at the De Schommel monument, in the heart of the city. Police arrested nine people, Omroep Gelderland reports.
