- On Dec. 26, Gold Star Distribution, Inc. issued a recall of nearly 2,000 products stored at its Minneapolis facility after the U.S. Food and Administration found insanitary conditions.
- FDA inspectors found the Minneapolis facility operating under insanitary conditions, including rodent and avian waste and products stored where they may have contacted contaminated surfaces.
- Affected products cover both food and non‑food categories, such as Cheerios, Pringles, Coca‑Cola, Gatorade, Pepto‑Bismol, Gillette, Purina and Fancy Feast, spanning snacks, beverages, medications and pet food.
- Consumers and retailers must destroy affected products and send proof of destruction to Gold Star at 1000 N. Humboldt Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55411; refunds are available via 612‑617‑9800.
- The FDA gave the recall a Class II classification on Jan. 22, noting no illnesses have been reported but exposure could cause salmonella or leptospirosis, especially risky for infants, pregnant people, elderly, and those with health conditions.
