Prince Owusu Hat Trick Helps Montreal Rally for 4-4 Tie with DC United
Prince Owusu scored three times, and teenager Hennadii Synchuk added the stoppage-time equalizer for Montreal’s comeback.
Prince Owusu completed his first MLS hat trick on a penalty kick four minutes into stoppage time Saturday night, and teenager Hennadii Synchuk scored the equalizer two minutes later to rally CF Montreal to a 4-4 draw with D.C. United at Audi Field.
D.C. United built a two-goal lead early as rookie Louis Munteanu scored on a header in the 9th minute and Jared Stroud added an unassisted goal in the 28th minute.
Tai Baribo extended the lead to 3-1 in the 51st minute on a penalty kick, and Lucas Bartlett added a goal in the 87th minute for a 4-2 advantage before Montreal's late surge.
Interim coach Philippe Eullaffroy has guided Montreal to a 3-2-2 record since April 12, while the all-time series between the clubs remains tied at 10-10-12.
The league enters a break for the FIFA World Cup, with play scheduled to resume on July 16.
