Prime witness in Sandeshkhali violence cases injured, son, driver killed in road accident
Bholanath Ghosh, a key witness in multiple high-profile cases, was critically injured while his son and driver were killed in a collision caused by a fleeing truck driver, police said.
- On Wednesday, Bholanath Ghosh, prime witness in ED and connected CBI cases, was critically injured when a truck collided with his car on the Basanti Highway, killing his younger son Satyajit and driver Sahanur Molla .
- Ghosh was en route to the Basirhat sub-divisional court to appear in cases filed by now-jailed TMC leader Sheikh Shahjahan, where he is a prime witness in ED and CBI-linked attacks.
- Local eyewitnesses said the truck, moving in the opposite direction, rammed the private vehicle at breakneck speed, crushing and dragging it into the adjacent water body beside Basanti Highway while its fleeing driver escaped.
- Authorities sent the deceased to SSKM Hospital, Kolkata for post-mortems while injured Ghosh was treated at a local hospital before moving to a private hospital in Kolkata.
- Till reports last received, family members had not lodged official complaints, and Biswajit, Ghosh's elder son, claimed the crash was a planned attempt with Shahjahan pulling strings from jail.
