- Victor Dawson rushed for 155 yards on 34 carries with a touchdown, Tommy Rittenhouse completed 18 of 38 passes for 251 yards with two TDs to Daniel Sobkowicz, who had seven catches for 97 yards.
- Illinois State becomes the first FCS team to win four road playoff wins, snapping Villanova Wildcats' 11-game streak and reaching its second championship appearance since January 2015.
- Meanwhile, ISU's path included road wins over Southeastern Louisiana, North Dakota State and UC Davis, while Montana State Bobcats reached the final by defeating Montana 48-23.
