President Trump Approves N.D.’s Second Disaster Declaration Request
The declaration enables federal aid for recovery after August storms caused power outages and damage to infrastructure in seven counties, officials said.

- In September, Governor Kelly Armstrong submitted the state request and Trump approved a 19-county declaration for June 20-21 storms that caused four deaths and more than $11 million in damage.
- Straight-Line winds up to 100 mph battered Jamestown, tearing off a roof at 713 14th St. SE that landed on vehicles, and damaged a farm north of Courtenay.
- The declaration covers Barnes, Grand Forks, Griggs, Kidder, Nelson, Steele and Stutsman counties and makes public assistance available through FEMA, helping utility providers defray recovery costs.
- Governor Kelly Armstrong thanked President Trump and FEMA for granting aid, saying the storms tested first responders, emergency managers, utility providers and citizens, while recovery programs include the Grain Storage & Facility Rebuilder Program.
