Turkey's President, Recep Tayip Erdoğan, has declared a deep crisis in the modern international system, saying that international law, agreements and court decisions have virtually ceased to function.
President Erdoğan criticized the UN system at the International Justice Summit. Erdoğan stated, "Even though some insist on ignoring the elephant in the room, everyone now knows that the current system is neither fair nor sustainable."
Speaking at the International Justice Summit, President Erdogan said: “We are all aware that it is not fair and healthy in a structure where the will of more than 190 countries under the umbrella of the United Nations depends on the decisions of only five members with veto privileges. “Even though someone insists on not seeing the elephant in the room, everyone now knows that the current system is not fair and sustainable,” he said.
President Erdoğan: "No one can say that a UN system that does not reflect the international will is legitimate and fair."
