The city of Rio de Janeiro has declared July 7 (Monday) a municipal holiday due to the BRICS Summit, which will host leaders from over 20 countries. Additionally, July 4 (Friday) has been marked as an optional workday for public offices because of related events. Although the summit formally begins on July 6, key encounters among central bank heads and finance ministers will already be taking place on July 4 and 5.

RIO DE JANEIRO, June 24.— Heads of State from more than 20 countries — according to some sources, 24 — will be present here to participate in the 17th Summit of the Brics Group, which will also be attended by Finance Ministers and Presidents of Central Banks.
The Brazilian Armed Forces intensify their preparations to ensure security during the next BRICS summit, which will be held on July 6 and 7 in the city of Rio de Janeiro. In this context, a specialized unit of the Galeão Air Force Hospital (HFAG) recently participated in a joint exercise with the Army, the Navy and the Fire Corps, focusing on the response to biological, nuclear, chemical and radiological threats (BNQR).
