ICC Sanctions Rovman Powell, Sherfane Rutherford for Code of Conduct Breaches in Ranchi T20I Against India
Both players admitted Level 1 breaches and accepted one demerit point each, avoiding formal hearings after the second T20I against India.
West Indies players Rovman Powell and Sherfane Rutherford received official reprimands on Monday for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct during Friday's second T20I against India in Ranchi.
Powell violated Article 2.2 for abusing cricket equipment after his dismissal, while Rutherford breached Article 2.8 by "showing dissent at an Umpire's decision during an International Match" following a disputed call.
Both players accepted sanctions from Prakash Bhatt of the Emirates ICC International Panel of Match Referees, receiving one demerit point each for their first offences in a 24-month period.
West Indies skipper Shai Hope led his side to a 6-wicket victory against India during the second T20I, chasing down a massive target successfully.
India recovered in the 3rd T20I, winning by 14 runs in Indore to take a 2-1 lead in the 5-match series against West Indies.
