Lower Saxony's Ministry of the Environment examines whether Framatome can produce fuel rods for Russian reactor types in Lingen. To date, there is no confirmation of a media report, according to which the federal government wants to allow this under conditions.
Lingen/Hannover (dpa/lni) – According to Environment Minister Christian Meyer (Greens), the controversial planned expansion of the fuel plant in Lingen in the Emsland is being further examined by the state government. Lingen-based Advanced Nuclear Fuels GmbH (ANF), a subsidiary of the French Framatome Group, intends to produce fuel for Russian reactor types there and has already concluded a cooperation with the Russian state corporation Rosatom.…
According to media reports, the Federal Government is said to have expressed a positive opinion on the project of the Lingen-based company ANF to produce fuel of Russian design using Russian know-how in the future. Although the statement is not yet publicly available, it calls for harsh protest among nuclear power opponents and Greens.
