The problem of wild boars has been reported for several years in the Middle Tejo, with losses in agricultural crops, approximation of animals to villages and road accidents reported in several municipalities
A pilot program to shoot wild boars has been launched in Portugal. The Ministry of Agriculture pays hunters several tens of euros for each animal killed. The authorities launched the program in connection with the increasing appearance of wild boars in built-up areas.
It allocates 2.2 million to reduce density and prevent damage to the primary sector. This year's call will be open until September 29th
The municipalities of the Middle Tejo want to integrate the pilot project that the government prepares to control the population of boars, a problem that, with different levels of severity, worries the whole region, said the president of the CIM today.
The Portuguese government has launched a pilot project to cull wild boar. Cash rewards will be paid for the culling of these animals, which are becoming increasingly common in cities, fields, and even beaches.
