Porter Airlines Launching Direct Flights Between Ottawa and London, Ont.
The expansion gives more than 2 million Southwestern Ontario residents direct access to major Canadian business and leisure hubs, Porter said.
Porter Airlines announced five new domestic routes from London International Airport launching in spring 2027, providing direct service to Halifax, Vancouver, Ottawa, Montreal, and Edmonton for the region's 2.5 million residents.
London International Airport CEO Scott McFadzean called the expansion a 'transformational investment' that strengthens regional access while offering travellers an alternative to Highway 401 congestion and larger hubs like Toronto Pearson.
Porter will operate routes using 132-seat Embraer E195-E2 and 78-seat De Havilland Dash 8-400 aircraft, with Vancouver flights running up to 11 times weekly and Ottawa and Montreal service offering up to three daily round-trips.
Flights to Halifax, Vancouver, Ottawa, and Montreal launch April 12, 2027, with Edmonton service beginning May 6, 2027, following nearly five years of discussions between Porter and the airport authority.
Porter President Kevin Jackson stated the airport is currently 'underserved with almost no real domestic service,' positioning the new routes to capture business and leisure demand throughout Southwestern Ontario.
