Pope Leo XIV tells 1 million Catholic youths that they are ‘the sign a different world is possible’
METROPOLITAN CITY OF ROME, LAZIO, AUG 6 – Pope Leo XIV urged over 1 million young pilgrims from 146 countries to be signs of hope and peace amid global conflicts during the Jubilee of Youth Mass, Vatican said.
- On Sunday, Pope Leo XIV presided over the final Mass at Tor Vergata in Rome, where over one million youths heard him call them `the sign that a different world is possible`.
- As part of the Holy Year Jubilee announced during World Youth Day in Lisbon, the Church planned weeklong events including turning Circus Maximus into an open-air confessional.
- At Saturday's event, organisers confirmed 800,000 attended and most spent the night in tents, sleeping bags, or mats before Sunday's mass.
- Leo said, `We are closer than ever to young people who suffer the most serious evils which are caused by other human beings`, after two young people who had made the pilgrimage to Rome died, one reportedly from cardiac arrest.
- Looking ahead, Pope Leo XIV invited young people to attend World Youth Day on Aug. 3-8, 2027, in Seoul, South Korea, urging hope and faith.

His 57% favorable rating and 11% unfavorable rating result in a +46 net-favorable score, far ahead of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky (+18) and U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders (+11).”
