LAKE COUNTY, MONTANA, JUL 15 – The first phase of a three-part expansion will double clinic capacity to meet rising health demands, supported by $14 million raised toward a $31 million community campaign.
- The medical center located in Polson initiated construction on a $31 million expansion on July 15, 2025, aiming to enhance access to rural healthcare services.
- The expansion responds to growing local demand and a shortage of primary care doctors, with the project unfolding in three phases focusing on clinic, emergency, and MRI upgrades.
- The first phase creates a new rural health clinic doubling primary care capacity, the second revamps the emergency room including behavioral health, and the third builds an MRI suite inside the hospital.
- Community donations have raised $14 million of the $18 million rural clinic cost, aiming to serve nearly 7,000 patients annually, according to co-chair Blair Sprunk.
- Completion of the clinic expected by fall 2026 will enhance local care, freeing space for emergency department improvements and supporting retention of physicians and advanced practitioners.
