Policy commits offshore operators to Baltic Sea surveillance

Ties are becoming increasingly close between the countries around and near the Baltic Sea. We share important interests, not least the threat from Russia.

The German Navy is repositioning itself. In Berlin, the inspector of the Navy presented the "Marine 2025+" course. Drones, cruise missiles and new ships are to be procured.

Spying, shadow fleet and sabotage: Again and again the Baltic Sea becomes the scene of a hybrid war between Russia and NATO. Civil infrastructure such as wind farms is now to be used for military surveillance. Security expert Moritz Brake calls this "highly sensible".
