Police Swoop on Property in Search for Gus Lamont
Major Crime detectives and specialist officers are searching numerous locations for evidence after heavy rain may have exposed new clues.
On Tuesday, South Australia Police confirmed they are returning to Oak Park Station in Yunta to search for missing four-year-old Gus Lamont, resuming efforts to take advantage of opportunities created by recent heavy rains on the property.
Gus was last seen playing on a dirt mound at Oak Park Station on September 27, 2025; initially treated as a wandering case, his disappearance was declared a major crime months later with a household suspect identified.
Detective Superintendent Darren Fielke said the investigation has been the 'largest and most intensive' missing person search undertaken by SA Police, with officers pumping 3.2 million litres from a dam and searching mine shafts across more than 700 square kilometres.
Major Crime detectives and specialist STAR Group officers will conduct the three-day search, while SA Police have repeatedly stated Gus's parents are not suspects and continue cooperating; a person with close ties to the household allegedly withdrew cooperation and has been identified as a suspect.
Heavy rains that delivered 129mm to Yunta on March 1 prompted police to believe new evidence opportunities may have emerged, with investigators urging anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers as the search continues.
