Three search teams and an ambulance joined police as officers searched Meynell Lake for a teenage boy reported to have entered the water.
On Thursday, Leicestershire Police began searching Meynell Lake in Syston after a teenage boy was reported to have entered the water; emergency services were called to Fosse Way just after 1:30pm.
This incident occurs as Syston faces an amber weather warning for extreme heat, with The Met Office predicting temperatures will surpass 37 Celsius and reach highs of 38 Celsius.
Three search teams and Leicestershire Fire and the Rescue Service are assisting the operation, with officers using boats to probe the lake bed while others examine the perimeter.
Police officers entered the water shortly after 6:15pm on Thursday, while an ambulance is present at the scene, Leicestershire Live reports.
The search is expected to continue "for some time" with police support teams in attendance, and officers remain in contact with the boy's next of kin.
