- Commissioner of Police Fatai Tijani confirmed the blast resulted from catastrophic failure of a pressurized mechanical component, stating, "There is absolutely no evidence linking this incident to terrorism, insurgency, sabotage."
- While urging residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities, Tijani reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force commitment to transparency and professional investigation of all future explosion-related incidents.
