Police Say No Further Investigation Needed Into Yes Scotland Finances
Police said they found no criminality after reviewing complaints that more than £1m was missing from the pro-independence campaign's accounts.
On Friday, Police Scotland concluded its review of Yes Scotland's finances, finding no evidence of criminality and confirming that nothing identified warranted further investigation.
Allegations arose after the conviction of former SNP CEO Peter Murrell, with campaigners claiming £1.5m was missing from Yes Scotland's 2013 accounts.
Solicitor Aamer Anwar clarified that the £1.5m represented legitimate operating costs, noting Yes Scotland had income of £2,403,976 and a surplus of £878,978, describing the claims as a "very basic misunderstanding of accounts."
Blair Jenkins, the former chief executive of Yes Scotland, expressed gratitude to police for clearing his name, while his legal team criticized the investigation as a "desperate attempt" to link the organization to Murrell's criminal conduct.
The original complaint was filed by David Henry, who previously triggered the wider Operation Branchform investigation into the SNP, telling The National he could not "ignore" what he believed he had found.
