Police confirm names of final two Bangor Airport plane crash victims

The six victims worked for Beyond Luxury; the jet crashed during takeoff amid a severe winter storm, with the National Transportation Safety Board leading the investigation.

  • On Tuesday, the Bangor Police Department announced the Maine Office of the Chief Medical Examiner identified Shawna Collins, 53, of Texas, and Nick Mastrascusa, 43, of Hawaii, completing all six victims' identifications from the Jan. 25 crash.
  • Stopping in Bangor to refuel and de-ice, the Bombardier Challenger 600 crashed shortly after takeoff on Jan. 25, catching fire and resting inverted.
  • Federal investigators from the FAA and NTSB arrived on Jan. 27 to begin probing the pilot, aircraft, and operating environment; records show the jet is registered to a Houston LLC linked to Arnold & Itkin, Houston law firm.
  • Bangor International Airport closed shortly after the crash, with Bangor police, Maine State Police, and about 10 fire departments responding while federal investigators focus on restoring operations.
  • Investigators will focus on weather and possible ice accumulation, gathering flight data and records, while the National Transportation Safety Board expects a preliminary report later this month and asks witnesses to email witness@ntsb.gov.
