Following a series of complaints, the police opened an undercover investigation, which resulted in the arrest in Jaffa of a 25-year-old illegal resident from Hebron. A search of the house where he was hiding found dozens of mezuzahs that were suspected of being torn from homes in the area.
A 25-year-old illegal resident was arrested on suspicion of removing mezuzahs from doorposts in Bat Yam and Holon and stealing them. It is suspected that he did not act alone and operations are underway to locate additional people involved.
