Poland charges third Ukrainian with helping Russia in railway sabotage
Volodymyr B. is charged with aiding two suspects who fled to Belarus in a sabotage on a key aid railway, targeting infrastructure used to support Ukraine, Polish prosecutors said.
- On Nov. 24, Polish prosecutors announced they charged a third Ukrainian suspect over sabotage on the Warsaw–Lublin railway line used to deliver aid to Ukraine, involving a blast near Mika and Golab between Nov. 15 and 16.
- Since 2022, security sources note European countries including Poland have seen a surge in sabotage, while Russia has recruited Ukrainians for operations and Poland serves as a logistics hub along its 535-kilometer border with Ukraine.
- Prosecutors say Volodymyr B. drove Yevhenii I. in September to survey the site, pick an explosives spot and install a recording device, and they detained Volodymyr B. on Nov. 20.
- Poland says two charged suspects, Oleksandr K. and Yevhenii I., fled to Belarus and seeks their extradition; four other Ukrainian nationals were detained and released after 48 hours as Moscow denied involvement.
