ISLAMABAD, PAKISTAN, JUL 7 – The AI-powered system improved customs performance by 92%, increasing tax assessments by 83% and doubling green channel clearances, aiming to reduce human intervention and ease trade processes.
- On July 7, 2025, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif inaugurated Pakistan’s first AI-driven platform designed to streamline import and export processes while managing associated risks during a meeting held in Islamabad.
- The launch followed government reforms aiming to automate Federal Board of Revenue processes to increase transparency and reduce manual intervention.
- The new system uses AI and BOTs to assess goods’ cost and nature during import and export, with initial tests showing over 92% performance improvement and 83% more tax-related Goods Declarations.
- Prime Minister Sharif emphasized that implementing technology-driven reforms in the tax system has enhanced its transparency and efficiency, highlighting that green channel clearances have more than doubled, thereby simplifying business operations.
