A New Beatles Attraction Is Coming to Liverpool as Interest in the Fab Four Surges
The immersive museum will use original artefacts and film sets, and ticket sales will help fund a Liverpool trust for emerging artists.
- On Tuesday, Apple Corps unveiled plans for a 100,000-square-foot Beatles attraction in Liverpool opening in 2028, alongside a 'Yellow Submarine'-themed viewing experience atop the 400-foot St. John's Beacon.
- Apple Corps will take over the existing Beatles Story from Albert Dock in 2027, relocating it to the former St. John's Market site in a partnership with Liverpool City Council and the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority.
- The venue will feature 'immersive technology, original artifacts and spectacular reconstructed sets,' including the Cavern Club and Abbey Road Studios, incorporating props from Sam Mendes' upcoming 'The Beatles: A Four-Film Cinematic Event,' releasing in April 2028.
- Every ticket sold will support the Apple Corps Liverpool Trust, a charitable initiative for emerging local artists. Sir Paul McCartney said, 'It's part of who I am,' while Ringo Starr affirmed, 'Liverpool was, and still is, Music City.'
- Apple Corps CEO Tom Greene compared the destination to 'Graceland or Dollywood,' aiming to rival major tourist attractions. However, Beatles expert Mike Jones at the University of Liverpool cautioned against the 'Disneyfication of Liverpool,' calling it both an opportunity and a risk.
