VARANASI, UTTAR PRADESH, AUG 2 – PM Modi launched projects including road upgrades, power infrastructure, and cultural restorations while Rs 20,500 crore was transferred to over 9.7 crore farmers under PM-KISAN scheme.
- On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Varanasi to inaugurate and lay foundation stones for projects worth Rs 2,200 crore.
- Heritage and infrastructure plans include the redevelopment of eight riverfront Kuccha Ghats and restoration of the historic Durgakund, alongside road widening in Varanasi.
- More than Rs 20,500 crore were transferred to over 9.7 crore farmers under the scheme, he said, and he distributed over 7,400 assistive devices to beneficiaries.
- He launched electricity projects worth over Rs 880 crore to modernise power supply and opened a railway overbridge at Hardattpur to ease congestion on the Mohan Sarai–Adalpura route.
- Highlighting defence growth, Modi noted BrahMos missile system would soon be manufactured in Lucknow as part of efforts to boost local defence production and said the projects will enhance connectivity, utilities, education and healthcare in Varanasi and surrounding regions.
