Play Can't Wait: Give the Gift of Play to Children Around the World
UNICEF says play supports learning and well-being as it urges donors to provide soccer balls, jump ropes and kits for more than 90 children at a time.
UNICEF reports that globally, about 1 in 7 children under age 5 lack toys or playthings at home. Working from the United States to Lebanon and across more than 150 countries, the organization supports safe spaces where children can play, learn and connect.
For children living through crisis, play is essential, not optional, according to UNICEF USA President and CEO Michael Nyenhuis. Still, safe play spaces are shrinking, and childhood cannot be put on pause despite growing need.
Recreation-in-a-Box provides enough equipment for more than 90 kids to play together, while providing 30 jump ropes to child-friendly spaces allows children to gather and reconnect with childhood through movement and shared activity.
Consider supporting the mission with UNICEF Inspired Gifts, such as soccer balls for kids to exercise and play, which foster connection and teamwork in times of crisis.
Together, these efforts help turn the right to play into a reality for every child, as the organization remains committed to ensuring every child can access safe, inclusive opportunities to play.
