Plans to build a new Aldi supermarket in Thames Ditton have been approved.
It’ll be based at the former Jaguar car dealership in Portsmouth Road. Some councillors had rejected the plans based on traffic concerns and the impact on the nearby village alongside some 380 objections. However, Elmbridge Borough Council gave the go ahead for the mainly single storey unit which will include 48 parking spaces. Aldi said the design had been significantly scaled back compared with a previous proposal that was rejected on appeal.
