The small plane crashed into a gravel quarry near Monroe Municipal Airport, causing a fire; two fatalities were confirmed, and federal agencies are investigating the cause.
- On Nov. 24 a small plane crashed into a gravel quarry adjacent to the Monroe Municipal Airport, killing two people, the Green County Sheriff's Office said.
- Crews were called to State Highway 59 at 5:14 p.m. Monday in the Town of Sylvester after the crash was reported just before 5:15 p.m. near State Highway 59 and Forest Prairie Road.
- Emergency crews found a broad debris field from the aircraft and extinguished the blaze with help from Monroe Rural Fire Department, Juda Fire Department and Green County EMS.
- Green County Sheriff Cody Kanable said, `Next steps for us are that our detectives are on scene working with the coroner's office to identify the two individuals`, and authorities have not identified the two people killed.
- The NTSB and FAA will investigate the crash, examining the cause and circumstances, authorities said.
