Pirelli Calendar Honours India with Padma Lakshmi and Freida Pinto
The annual calendar includes 3 photographers and highlights Indian festivals, locations and diversity through images featuring Padma Lakshmi, Freida Pinto and other stars.
- On Friday, Pirelli presented its 2027 calendar in New Delhi, featuring an all-Indian cast including Padma Lakshmi and Freida Pinto. The project pays homage to India's beauty and diverse culture.
- For the first time, three photographers offered perspectives on the country. Sundsb worked alongside the late Raghu Rai, who passed away in April 2026, with his daughter Avani Rai carrying his legacy forward.
- Actress Aditi Rao Hydari and model Bhavitha Mandava posed at Jaigarh Fort in Jaipur, Rajasthan, while model Lakshmi Menon posed in a look inspired by the Hindu festival of Holi. The shoot captures India's coexistence of ancient and contemporary realities.
- Freida shared her hope that the calendar conveys true diversity, stating, "So, when people see this calendar, I hope they see how different we are and how we can all still coexist beautifully." Participants highlighted internal variations within Indian culture.
- Pirelli has evolved significantly since 2017, when the company began "ripping up the rule book" by abandoning its tradition of featuring scantily-clad models. The calendar now focuses on cultural and feminist themes.
