'Stepdad with Perverted Sexual Obsession with Stepdaughter Ended with ...
Prosecutors said Nathan Owens harbored a sexual obsession with his stepdaughter and staged the scene to look like suicide after killing her.
On Friday, October 23, 2026, Preston Crown Court sentenced Nathan Owens to life in prison for murdering his stepdaughter Carla Georgescu, with a minimum term of 35 years before parole eligibility.
Owens drove 100 miles from his Hartlepool home to Preston in February, driven by what prosecutors described as a 'longstanding sexual obsession' with Carla that remained hidden from her and her mother.
After strangling Carla, Owens staged the scene to resemble suicide; CCTV footage and GPS data from his car contradicted his initial denials, showing him disposing of evidence along his route home.
Mr Justice Jacobs told Owens during sentencing, 'You have not demonstrated any remorse for what you did,' after a jury convicted him following three hours of deliberation.
Carla, a 19-year-old Clinical Psychology student described as 'intelligent, gentle and articulate,' had planned to travel to Romania to meet her boyfriend before Owens took her life.
