Perplexity's Comet AI Browser May Have some Concerning Security Flaws Which Could Let Hacker Hijack Your Device

On Thursday, Perplexity launched its Comet browser on Android, making the AI-native app available for free download on Google Play.
Perplexity said Android was prioritized after carriers and OEMs requested Comet, and earlier this year the company partnered with Motorola to preload the app, but announced no new partnership for this release.
The Comet Assistant can summarize content across tabs and answer questions via voice mode, while the Android build includes a native ad blocker and displays shopping and research actions.
Security researchers flagged agent vulnerabilities as SquareX reported a hidden MCP API in the Agentic extension that could execute local commands, warning single attacks might control devices via the perplexity.ai site.
Perplexity says Comet will arrive on iOS soon amid broader AI-browser competition with Chrome and Safari, and plans to add a conversational agent and password manager in the coming weeks.
