Okanagan Swimmer Heading to Germany for World University Games

Canada will participate once again in the International University Sports Federation’s Summer World University Games in Germany from July 16 to 27, 2025, following its absence from the 2023 competition.
This return marks Canada’s comeback following its absence in 2023 and highlights recent successes such as a local swimmer reaching the finals in the 200-metre individual medley during this year’s global aquatics competition.
Ashley McMillan, a Penticton Secondary graduate and University of Southern California athlete, leads a team of six Canadian women competing in swimming events in Berlin from July 17 to 23.
McMillan will join fellow Canadian Olympians who competed in Paris earlier this year, including two other swimmers and Emma O'Croinin, to represent the country in Berlin.
The team’s participation signals a renewed Canadian presence in international university sports and supports the development of athletes transitioning from elite competitions to the World University Games.
