UNITED STATES, JUL 23 – Pentagon Inspector General confirmed Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth shared classified U.S. military strike plans on Signal, contradicting prior administration denials during ongoing investigation.
- On July 23, 2025, the Pentagon’s inspector general found that Signal messages from Hegseth included classified information, sources tell me and @ZcohenCNN.
- Earlier this year, investigators found parts of a classified US Central Command document in Hegseth’s Signal chat, detailing Yemen airstrikes, from March 15, sources say.
- The probe was opened in April after concerns over Hegseth’s use of Signal, at the request of Republican and Democratic Senate Armed Services Committee members, and remains ongoing.
- In response, Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell reiterated the stance, while Michael Waltz said `There was no classified information exchanged.`
