The arrival of US troops was confirmed on Monday by Samaila Uba, spokesman for Nigeria's National Defense Headquarters. The Americans will help train the troops and provide them with technical support. Additional assistance for Nigerian security services will include intelligence sharing, all aimed at combating extremists in the north of the country.
