The Federal Council passed numerous laws at the last meeting of the year. The Chamber of State approved, among other things, the new military service, the pension package, the increase in the commuting fee and the reduction of VAT in the catering industry.
It looks like an early Christmas celebration: many people will have more money next year - for example through tax reliefs. The Federal Council has now cleared the way for this.
The Federal Council decided on tax reliefs for commuters and gastronomy, which will apply from 1 January 2026. Sales tax for restaurant meals drops to seven percent. In addition, the distance allowance is granted from the first kilometre.
