Penn State Football Great, Radio Broadcaster Jack Ham Hospitalized After Medical Emergency Before Washington Game
Penn State Athletics said it had no further information on the condition of the 77-year-old Hall of Famer.
Penn State football radio analyst Jack Ham, 77, was hospitalized Saturday morning after suffering an undisclosed medical emergency at Husky Stadium in Seattle. Ham is receiving treatment at the University of Washington Medical Center.
A legendary linebacker at Penn State and the Pittsburgh Steelers, Ham has served as the Nittany Lions' radio color commentator since 2000. He teamed with play-by-play announcer Steve Jones for more than 25 years.
During Saturday's broadcast, Brian Tripp filled in as commentator for the Penn State-Washington game. Play-by-play announcer Steve Jones broke the news to listeners after missing about 45 minutes of the pregame show.
Penn State Athletics has not disclosed Ham's medical condition, stating they have no further information to provide as of Saturday afternoon. The university confirmed he remains under care at the medical center.
Before his broadcasting career, Ham established a Hall of Fame legacy, playing 12 seasons for the Pittsburgh Steelers and winning four Super Bowl titles. He remains one of the most decorated players in Penn State history.
