The Alamo to Display Famous Bicycle From ‘Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure’
BEXAR COUNTY, TEXAS, JUL 18 – The Alamo acquired Pee-wee Herman's original stunt bike for $125,000 to honor the film's cultural impact during its 40th anniversary with permanent display planned for 2027.
- On Friday, July 18, 2025, The Alamo Trust announced it acquired Pee-wee Herman’s original stunt bicycle from the 1985 film, to be displayed in the Mays Family Legacy Gallery.
- Following Paul Reubens’s 2023 death, collectors renewed interest, with the bike selling for $125,000 and surpassing its $30,000–$60,000 estimate, People reported.
- A limited-time showing later this year at the Ralston Family Collection Center, with a permanent gallery opening fall 2027 at the Alamo Visitor Center and Museum and a free screening in Plaza de Valero.
- The executive director said `We are thrilled to add this beloved piece of film history to our collection`, and the acquisition is sparking renewed interest in the Alamo.
- Planned galleries will span 300 years of history soon, and the stunt bike underscores the Alamo’s enduring pop culture relevance as visitors see it in the world-class exhibit soon.
