Perth Train Derailment Brings Services to Standstill
Two wheel undercarriages partially derailed near Bayswater Station causing cancellations on four Perth lines and replacement buses, with disruptions lasting beyond evening peak.
- A carriage derailed at Bayswater Station during the afternoon peak about 3.30pm on Monday, blocking tracks and cancelling services on the Airport, Ellenbrook and Midland lines.
- A Public Transport Authority spokesperson said the derailment occurred after two wheel undercarriages partially come off the tracks following a low speed departure, and the authority is investigating with all passengers safely evacuated.
- Replacement buses Route 902, Route 903 and Route 901 operate from Wellington St stands, and Transperth urged travellers to allow extra time as buses may not connect with timetabled services.
- Commuters faced cancellations and delays during the afternoon peak, with area traffic heavy and Transperth warning disruption will continue beyond Monday evening peak; no-one was injured.
- Transperth officers could be seen inspecting the stuck train and track near Bayswater, while passengers were advised to check the Transperth website, JourneyPlanner, or call InfoLine 13 62 13 for updates.
