The United States Ambassador to the United Nations, Michael Waltz, and the Senior Adviser to the United States President for Arab and African Affairs, Mas'ad Paul, called on the Security Council to extend the arms embargo on Darfur to all parts of the Sudan, stressing that this step is necessary to reduce the continuation of the war and to create conditions for a civilian-led peace process.
