PCB Clears 10 Bidders for Auction of Two New HBL PSL Franchises
Ten bidders from five countries qualified for the January 8 auction to acquire rights for two new PSL franchises, expanding the league to eight teams.
- The Pakistan Cricket Board qualified 10 bidders to enter an auction at the Jinnah Convention Centre, Islamabad, on January 8, 2026, after completing a technical evaluation, the PCB bid committee said.
- The Pakistan Cricket Board scrutinised 12 proposals over three days as the PSL plans to expand from six to eight franchises for its upcoming 11th edition, prompting the bid process.
- Investors from the USA, Australia, Canada, the UAE and Pakistan showed interest, and PSL management called the expansion 'another significant milestone' while preparing for the auction.
- Successful bidders will be able to pick team names from Rawalpindi, Hyderabad, Faisalabad, Gilgit, Muzaffarabad and Sialkot, and the auction will determine the franchise rights for the two new PSL teams.
- By expanding, the league opens new ownership opportunities for local and international investors as the PSL undergoes its first major restructuring in seven years ahead of next year.
